But honestly, I swear, all through that backstory it seemed like poor Elphias Doge had a thing for Dumbledore (unrequited?) but tragedy struck before they could go on their big gay OE and then the exotic european guy got to Dumbledore first. Poor Elphias Doge. Pretty much anytime Dumbledore and Grindelwald were mentioned in the same paragraph I cracked up laughing at the "THIER LOEV IS SO TWAGIC!!1" tone of it all.
